A Stir The Pots Post

Bread basket

My father lived in Germany, and both me and my brother spent time visiting him. I also was stationed there as Private Shapiro, soldier in this nation’s army. Anyway, weekends off from military duty, me and my brother would ride 20 kilometers from my father’s village to Wangen, home to Fidelisbäck, a restaurant known for its infamous Leberkäse meatloaf that were served with amazing bread. Those were wonderful rides and meals. This summer, I have fine tuned my efforts to recreate the bread selections, including seelen, laugenback, and bier stangerl. It’s been fun, recreating that wonderful feeling of family, riding through Germany, and enjoying their wonderful breads.
